Illuminate Your Multi-Story Infrastructure the Smart Way

Dimonoff added floor plan management to its SCMS platform, letting building and parking managers control lighting on every level with schedules, motion sensors and daylight-based scenarios.

Building managers and system integrators are increasingly turning to interconnected platforms to manage both outdoor and indoor infrastructure, according to Dimonoff executive vice president Daniel Noiseux. Smart lighting management has become a common requirement for new construction and renovation projects, particularly multi-story parking structures, since an all-in-one platform can improve security, streamline operations and lower energy consumption.

To meet that demand, Dimonoff added floor plan capabilities to version 20 of its SCMS management platform. The update lets users add building or parking layouts to their account and position and control lighting fixtures on each individual floor, much like street lights are already managed remotely through predetermined schedules or motion sensors that adjust dimming based on occupancy.

Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport already uses this functionality, combining vertical management of lighting layers with motion sensors to save energy in areas of the building that see little traffic. Version 20 supports an unlimited number of floors, above or below ground, lets users navigate between levels and adapt lighting scenarios to natural daylight, and includes an improved search tool for locating nodes quickly on a floor plan.

The platform also manages sensors from multiple suppliers, including snow, water level, motion and digital display sensors, handling several communication protocols in parallel. Real-time infrastructure status information gives managers the data they need for reporting, alerts and longer-term strategic decisions.
