Montreal Smart Street Lighting Wins Smart Cities 50 Award

Montreal's smart street lighting initiative, which modernized 132,500 LED fixtures under Dimonoff's SCMS platform, won the Energy category at the Smart Cities 50 Awards in Kansas City.

Montreal’s smart street lighting initiative was recognized in the Energy category at the Smart Cities 50 Awards, which honors what organizers describe as “the fifty most outstanding smart projects” each year at the Smart Cities Connect Conference & Expo Symposium. Project Manager Isabelle Lessard accepted the award in Kansas City, joined by Daniel Noiseux of Dimonoff and Catherine Roy-Cardin of Énergère.

The award recognized a project that modernized 132,500 street lights across Montreal with LED fixtures and an intelligent management system. The city set a demanding requirement for the project: integrating three separate intelligent control suppliers into a single, scalable platform. Dimonoff’s SCMS platform was selected to oversee the entire lighting network, with hardware supplied by Dimonoff, Current by GE, and Telematics Wireless.

The resulting system allows Montreal to manage its lighting operations more efficiently while reducing both energy consumption and maintenance costs. Dimonoff congratulated the city on the achievement and credited its project partners for their role in bringing the deployment together.
