Dimonoff selected for Montreal's smart streetlight project

Dimonoff and its consortium partners were awarded a $28 million contract to convert more than 135,000 Montreal light fixtures into a connected smart lighting network, with Dimonoff's SCMS platform unifying multiple hardware vendors under one interface.

Dimonoff was awarded a contract to supply hardware and services for the City of Montreal’s smart public lighting initiative. The winning team also included energy services firm Energere, Current powered by GE, Telematics Wireless, and Zone TI, with Dimonoff’s Smart City Management System (SCMS) chosen to integrate the various vendors into a single management interface with scalable data handling for future IoT applications.

Bernard Têtu, Dimonoff’s president, said the company was “proud to help Montreal strive as the reference for Smart and Digital Cities,” noting the $28 million project would harness innovative technologies for the city. The infrastructure was set to initially manage more than 135,000 light fixtures, with capacity to add further smart city sensors over time. Radio modules attached to each luminaire communicate across a network, relaying commands and data through gateways to the central management software.

Energere’s project director, Benoit Trottier, said the system would allow “immediate intervention in case of luminaire malfunction, and by extension, better maintenance planning,” alongside precise monitoring of power consumption and energy savings. Catherine Roy-Cardin, Energere’s business development manager, credited the win to a rigorous bidding process built around the strength of their technical proposal and a competitive financial offer.
