A new smart street lighting network for the City of L'Assomption

The City of L'Assomption modernized its street lighting with 679 new LED fixtures and Dimonoff's wireless SCMS control system, saving an estimated $44,378 a year in energy and maintenance.

The City of L’Assomption modernized its aging street lighting infrastructure by installing 679 new LED fixtures equipped with Dimonoff’s intelligent wireless control system. The municipality chose 3000K directional lighting to reduce light pollution and prevent light spilling into nearby homes, with installation starting in late 2020 and completion expected in the second quarter of 2021.

The project integrates Dimonoff’s SCMS lighting management platform, giving the city the ability to remotely manage every fixture in real time, optimize operations and reduce maintenance needs. The new LEDs also last roughly five times longer than the fixtures they replaced. Mayor Sébastien Nadeau said the solution was chosen for being environmentally friendly while improving visibility and road safety.

Combined energy and maintenance savings are estimated at about $44,378 per year, alongside an annual reduction of roughly 171.17 metric tons of CO2 equivalent, based on EPA calculations.

L’Assomption’s project is part of a broader initiative led by the Fédération québécoise des municipalités, which gives more than 200 Quebec municipalities access to LED lighting modernization through a partnership between Dimonoff and Énergère, extending smart lighting technology to cities of all sizes while lowering their annual operating costs.
