The City of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Michigan’s second-largest city with roughly 188,000 residents spread across 45 square miles, is transforming its public lighting network through a partnership with Dimonoff. The project involves installing 18,037 wireless smart control nodes on streetlights, creating a connected network that enables remote monitoring and real-time control of the entire lighting system. Completion was expected by the first quarter of 2024.
The Dimonoff | SCMS urban asset management platform serves as the project’s control center, allowing the city to configure, monitor, and meter every streetlight while gaining operational insights. Its asset management features proactively flag bulb failures through alarms and notifications, helping optimize maintenance routing and cut unnecessary costs.
“We are thrilled to be part of this landmark project in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The implementation of our smart street lighting solution represents a significant step towards building a more intelligent and eco-friendly urban landscape,” said Bernard Têtu, Founding President of Dimonoff. James Hurt, Managing Director of Public Services for the City of Grand Rapids, added that the initiative would improve residents’ quality of life and enhance public safety.
